MEET OUR COACHES
HEAD COACH DAVID FAULKNER
David Faulkner joined the McT staff in January of 2023. He enters his second season as head coach for the Yellow Jackets. He came to McGill-Toolen Catholic from West Virginia University.
He joined the Mountaineer football staff in 2021 after serving as the offensive coordinator at Grayson High School in Loganville, Georgia.
Prior to that, he was the director of player personnel and high school relations at Troy University for two years (2019-21). He joined the Troy staff following seven years as the head coach at Enterprise High School, where he led the Wildcats to four playoff appearances at the highest level of Alabama high school football. Faulkner was named the Alabama 7A Coach of the Year following a 10-2 run in 2016.
Prior to taking over at Enterprise, Faulkner led Fairhope (Ala.) High School to a 28-9 record over three seasons culminating with an 10-3 record in 2011. The Pirates made three straight postseason appearances and won four playoff games. Fairhope had won just three playoff games over the previous 20 years combined.
Fairhope set a school record for points in 2011, and Faulkner guided the Pirates to a No. 4 ranking in the Alabama 6A polls during his first season in 2009.
He spent two seasons (2007-08) as the offensive coordinator at Foley (Ala.) High School under current Alabama special assistant to the head coach Todd Watson. The Lions posted a combined 22-3 record and won a region title during his tenure.
Faulkner preceded his stint at Foley with four seasons (2003-06) at powerhouse Hoover (Ala.) High School where he spent one season coaching the defensive backs before coaching the quarterbacks coach and play caller for one year before taking over as the offensive coordinator for the final two years. The Buccaneers won three Alabama 6A state titles and played in the championship game all four seasons.
Faulkner began his coaching career at Clarke County (Ala.) High School (1998-99) in Grove Hill. After two seasons, he moved to the newly formed Alma Bryant (Ala.) High School, where he served as offensive coordinator (2000) and eventually head coach for one season (2001). He spent one season at Prattville in 2002, helping the Lions to a 12-2 record and a spot in the semifinals.
Faulkner earned his bachelor’s degree from Troy in physical education in 1996. He is married to the former Christie Garrett and the couple has three children, Garrett, Grayson and Caroline.

OFFENSIVE LINE
JEFF WILLIAMS
Coach Williams enters his sixth year on the McT Coaching Staff. He has over 30 years of experience. He was the Offensive Line coach and Offensive Coordinator at Auburn High School before coming to McGill-Toolen. His past experience includes serving as head coach and athletic director at Valley High School and Geneva High School. He also was offensive coordinator at Benjamin Russell High School and Fairhope High School as well as defensive line coach at Hewitt-Trussville.
He is married to Candy Williams who teaches at McGill, and they have 3 sons. JT works full-time for Main Street Title and Closing Company, Palmer graduated from McGill and is in college, and the youngest, John David (JD), will be a freshman at McGill-Toolen this year.
TIGHT ENDS/SPECIAL TEAMS COORDINATOR
NICK ANDERSON
Nick enters his second year on the McGill coaching staff this year. This is his 13th year in coaching.
Coach Anderson is from Birmingham, AL he Went to Oak Mountain High School – class of in 2007. He played running back at Carson-Newman College (2007-2008) and UAB (2009-2010). He was at Bob Jones High School as Varsity RB Coach from 2010-2012 earning 3 Region Titles ('10,'11,'12). He graduated from the University of Alabama in Huntsville with a Marketing Degree in 2012. In 2016 he was at Mountain Brook Junior High as RB/TE Coach. From 2017 to 2020 he was at Troy University as a RB/ST GA/Analyst earning 2017 Sun Belt Champions; 1st in Special Teams Efficiency in 2018.
From 2020 - 2021 Anderson served as RB/Special Teams Coordinator - 9th Grade Head Coach - 5A State Runner Up/9th Grade Conference Champions at Little Rock Christian Academy. Then he moved onto Bemidji State University as RB Coach for one year and they were NSIC Conference Champions. This was the 1st time in school history to make D2 playoffs and they Lost in the 2nd Round to Colorado School of Mines. Before he came to McT he was at Marion High School coaching Wide Receivers. Nick’s wife Lenzie teaches math and coaches cheer at McGill-Toolen. They also have an infant son Kannon and love being part of the Yellow Jacket Family.

TRIPP COBB
Coach Cobb was born and raised in Mobile, Alabama. For elementary and middle school, he attended St. Pius X. In 2015, he graduated from McGill-Toolen Catholic High School. During his time playing football at McGill, Coach Cobb started games at both QB and WR. In addition to playing football, Coach Cobb was also a member of the basketball and baseball teams.
Prior to returning home to McGill, Coach Cobb had stops coaching wide receivers at Opelika High School and running backs at Prattville High School.
OUTSIDE WIDE RECEIVERS
CONNOR COLLIER
Coach Collier begins his first-year coaching at McGill Toolen, where he will be coaching outside wide receivers. He was previously at Theodore High School where he helped the Bobcats make it to the 6A State Semifinals. Coach Collier graduated with a bachelor’s in biomedical sciences from Auburn University and then completed a year of medical school at the University of South Alabama before deciding to become a science teacher and coach. Coach Collier graduated from Saint James School in Montgomery where he was the quarterback for the Trojans. His wife, Anna, and his baby girl, Jane, are excited to cheer on the Yellow Jackets this season. He is looking forward to a great year!
DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR
TRACY BUCKHANNON
Tracy is excited to enter another season with the yellow jackets. He has over 20 years of coaching experience. He was the defensive coordinator for a year at Faulkner University. He spent a year as the linebacker coach at Alabama A&M. He was defensive coordinator at Enterprise (Ala.) High School in 2019, then went on to Alabama State. He also spent time at South Alabama as the linebacker coach in 2015, after serving two years at Colquitt County (Ga.) High School as the defensive coordinator. While at Colquitt County, he helped lead the team to the 2014 7A state championship and was named the Georgia Assistant Coach of the Year. He was also a defensive assistant at the school for a year before being promoted to defensive coordinator. Prior to those roles, Buckhannon got his start in coaching at Elmore County where he was named the 2008 ALFCA Class 4A Assistant Coach of the Year. During his time there he helped lead Elmore County (Ala.) to five playoff appearances. Buckhannon earned five letters for playing football at Elmore County High School, before earning his Bachelor of Science degree from Auburn University in Applied Discrete Mathematics. Buckhannon has two daughters, Teresia and Traci.
LINEBACKERS
ASHLEY JOHNSON
Ashley enters his 3rd year teaching and coaching at McGill. He teaches honors government and economics and serves as an Assistant Athletic Director.
Ashley grew up in Webb, AL and is a graduate of Houston County High School. He played on the 2nd football team at UAB. He has a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education Social Science from Troy State – Dothan, a master’s degree in Secondary Education Social Science from Auburn University, and a Masters in instructional Leadership from the University of West Alabama. Ashley retired from the Alabama Public School’s a few years ago with 25 years of teaching experience. He also coached multiple sports in those years including the roles of Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at Citronelle and Vigor High School. For seven years he directed the Upward Sports programs at Spring Hill Baptist Church where he also serves as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. Ashley has been married to Leslie McDuffie Johnson for 23 years. They have two daughters, Claire (19) and Mary Carlton(16).

DONNIE BRADY
Coach Brady played football at McGill-Toolen and went to the State Championship all 3 years he was on Varsity. He was on the 2015 State Championship team. He graduated from McGill-Toolen in 2018 and is currently attending the University of South Alabama where he is a member of Kappa Alpha Order. Coach Brady is studying Education at South. Brady played Defensive and Offensive Line during his career at McT. His family has deep Yellow Jacket roots as his father played football at McGill, and his grandfather played at McGill Institute. His little brother, Sawyer, was a Yellow Jacket too and graduated in 2019. His little sister Payton Barrett graduated from McGill-Toolen in 2022. Brady started coaching at McT four years ago working with the Freshman team. He is extremely excited to be coaching the Varsity Defensive Line this season.

MIKE DORIOT
Coach Doriot begins his first-year coaching at McGill-Toolen, where he will be coaching the tight ends. He previously spent the last nine years at St. Luke's, with the first six years coaching wide receivers and the last three years he served as the co-offensive coordinator. Throughout his tenure he helped lead the Wildcats to the playoffs seven out of the nine years. Before that, he was the head football coach at Semmes Middle School for two years.
Coach Doriot grew up in Toledo, Ohio and graduated from the University of Toledo with a bachelor’s in liberal arts. He then earned his master’s in Education at the University of Southern California and recently completed a masters in Special Education from the University of South Alabama. He is currently finishing an Educational Leadership degree at the University of South Alabama.
Coach Doriot is married to Andrea Doriot, and they have 2 children, Cameron and Madison. Mike and his family are excited to join the McGill-Toolen Family.
OFFENSIVE LINE
SCOTT ATKINS
Coach Atkins is pleased to return to the McGill-Toolen family. He coached Offensive Line at McGill in the late 90’s before moving into the Mobile County Public School system. He has 37 years of football coaching experience. In addition to Coaching at McGill-Toolen, he has coached at St. Paul’s, St. Luke’s, Mobile County Schools, and the Mississippi Stingrays Semi-pro football team. Other past positions have included strength coach, softball, baseball, basketball, and golf coach.
Coach Atkins grew up in Columbus, Mississippi. He earned his associate’s degree in engineering from East Mississippi Community College where he was All State Offensive tackle; his bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Millsaps College where he played Offensive Guard on a full academic and football scholarship; and his Master’s degree in physical education/kinesiology from the University of Mobile. He is a 2018 United States Marine Corps Rivalry Series Hall of Fame inductee. This is his 20th year in the McGill/Murphy rivalry.
He teaches Algebra and Geometry. He has been married to his wife Mary for 34 years and they have one son, Jonathan (27). Coach Atkins is excited to be back with the Yellowjacket football staff and is looking forward to an exciting year!
STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING
JAKE JOHNSON
Jake Johnson was born and raised in Fredericksburg, VA. He played football at Stafford High School and was All State and All Metro. He went on to play and started as a linebacker at Virginia Tech for the 2009 season. There, Johnson was Chick Fil A Player of the Game against Alabama, and was top 3 in total tackles in the nation going into the 6th game that season.
He went on to be a three-year starter at The University of South Alabama. He was awarded Male Athlete of The Year in 2011 and was the first in school history to achieve First Team All-Sunbelt in 2012 when South became a member. Johnson was top ten in the nation in tackles and tackles for loss senior year. He played in the 2013 Senior Bowl but ruptured his Achilles.
As a strength and conditioning coach he has produced over 9 state championships in different sports in the past 6 years, multiple Gatorade Players of The Year, pro athletes, national champion weightlifters and Team USA athletes. We are excited to have Jake as part of our McT Football Family.

CHRISTIAN BREWER
We are excited to have Christian as part of the McT Family. Brewer played at Alabama State as a defensive back for two years before getting injured. Brewer graduated from Theodore High School in 2018. Christian has a daughter named Xa’mori. Christian has been wanting to coach since he was 5. He has been a middle school coach for several years and is ecstatic to be coaching Varsity this year.

ANDREW CRENSHAW
During the 2019 season, Coach Crenshaw was under former head coach, Bill Clark, at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Andrew served as the assistant to the special teams coordinator. Before arriving at UAB, Andrew had a brief stint under Caleb Ross at Prattville High School, mentoring eventual Alabama Football Signee Ian Jackson. Andrew started his coaching career in 2013 as a men's and women's basketball coach at Byne Christian School located in Albany, Georgia.
The following year, in 2014 he served under Rush Propst, as a defensive backs coach at Colquitt County High School located in Moultrie, Georgia. He helped the team post a 15-0 record, finishing #6 in the country as well as winning the Georgia 6A State Championship. The following 2 years Andrew was tutored under Former HC Jimbo Fisher and Charles Kelly as a defensive secondary analyst at Florida State University (2015-2016). In 2017-2018, Andrew coached at Faulkner University, leading and coaching the secondary which entails 3 different position groups (cornerback, safety, and nickel). Prior to coaching, Andrew managed the Neighborhood Market Walmart Store located in Arlington, Texas. Coach Crenshaw also serves as the McGill-Toolen Registrar. Andrew is excited to be at McT!

DOMINICK PETTWAY
Dominick loves his hometown Mobile, Alabama and enjoys coaching sports here. Coach Pettway attended Williamson High School and has been coaching youth football, basketball, and baseball for 29 years. He has won numerous championships in the Mobile Youth Football Conference and in the Mobile Parks and Recreation league. He has coached middle school and is excited to be working with Varsity and the freshmen this year.

THOMAS "TJ" JAUREGUI, SR.
“Coach J” has loved coaching youth football in Mobile and CYO for the past 12 years and is excited to join McGill-Toolen this year working with the freshmen team. TJ is married to his high school sweetheart, Jenny, and they have four children, Helena, JT, Anthony and Vincent. Anthony and Vincent play on the Yellow Jackets Middle School Football team and look forward to joining their dad at the high school level in the near future. Coach J is eager to bring his energetic coaching style and passion for coaching to the McGill-Toolen Football Program.

DENISON CROCKER
Coach Crocker is in his sixth year with McGill-Toolen Middle School football and third as head coach. His teams are a true combination of mental strength and physical toughness, adopting the mindset of “Adapting, Improvising and Overcoming”. Coaching both the 7th and 8th grade teams simultaneously is a labor of love and nothing short of rewarding, coaching these fine student athletes. Denison and his lovely wife, Lynes, have two children. Amelia (16), a junior at McGill-Toolen and Michael (18) a recent McGill-Toolen graduate. They all love being a part of the Yellow Jacket family!

COLBY MCDUFFIE
Coach McDuffie is entering his sixth season coaching at McGill-Toolen. McDuffie is a graduate of the University of South Alabama with a degree in Secondary Education of Social Studies. He is the son of John and Deanne McDuffie. Coach is grateful to be coaching at McGill and is looking forward to another great season.

KENRICK DAILEY
Kenrick is a 2007 graduate of Baker High School. He attended the University of Southern Miss where he played Football as a wide receiver for the Golden Eagles, from 2007-2010. Coach Dailey is married to wife Brittney and they have been together for 16 years. They have three amazing children: Kenrick Jr (14 yr old son) who will be a freshmen at McT this year, Kendii-Lei (7 yr old daughter) & Kenzoe (5 yr old son), who keeps them up and going! He loves coaching the Middle School Yellow Jackets and is excited to be helping out again this year.

JARROD POTTEIGER
Jarrod Potteiger returns the McT Middle School coaching staff for a second year after coaching for 6 years in CYO, MYFC and travel football. Jarrod played for Arkansas Tech and finished his football career at Northeastern Oklahoma State (NSU) where he played offensive tackle and competed in shotput and discus for the NSU track team. Jarrod Graduated from the University of South Alabama with a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and has lived and worked in the Mobile community for almost 30 years. Jarrod and his wife, Krista, have two sons Cole and Jake Potteiger.

CLEVELAND PATTERSON
Coach Patterson graduated from McGill-Toolen in 1998. He was a member of the Belhaven College, now Belhaven University, inaugural football team. He was 2nd team All-Mid-South Conference and an NAIA Honorable Mention All-American Offensive Lineman. He began coaching at McGill in 2003 and coached the McT Middle School team since its inaugural season. He earned a juris doctor from Southern University Law Center located in Baton Rouge, LA in 2012. He is a criminal prosecutor for the City of Mobile.

JOHN MYERS STOCKTON
John Myers Stockton is the son of Robert and Kelly Stockton. John Myers attended Spanish Fort High School where he graduated in 2016. He played defensive line for the Toros throughout his high school experience including their 2015 undefeated season that ended with winning the 6A State Championship in Bryant-Denny Stadium. His team was ranked #11 in the nation and #1 in the state of Alabama. After leaving Spanish Fort, John Myers attended the University of Alabama where he graduated in the spring of 2021 with a degree in Business Marketing. John Myers is currently employed at Brabner & Hollon as a salesman of commercial doors and hardware. He is excited to be coaching again this year.

CLAY RANKIN
Coach Rankin enters his ninth season with the Yellow Jacket Family! He has coached football for over 20 years with stops at UMS Wright, Vigor and Daphne High Schools, and Saint Mary Catholic School. Coach Rankin is married to Melissa Rankin (McT C/O 1991) who works as a Federal Probation Officer. Additionally, she owns and operates a women’s gun safety business called “She’s a Pistol”. The Rankins are the proud parents of two amazing kids Anna Rose (15) and Jackson (13). Anna Rose is a member of NJHS and is a drummer in the McT Marching Band. Jackson loves watching sports and playing them. Roll Tide and Who Dat! Coach Rankin is excited for another successful season coaching at McGill-Toolen. Go Jackets!
MODERATOR OF MIDDLE SCHOOL FOOTBALL PROGRAM
RYAN HALL
Ryan Hall is entering his 12th season as the Baseball Varsity Outfield Coach at McT. In his 4 years as the Junior Varsity Baseball Head Coach, Coach Hall has combined a 65-9 record with 3 Mobile Area JV Championships. After four successful seasons at Spring Hill College, Ryan graduated with a Masters of Arts in Teaching in 2011. Upon completing a stint as a graduate assistant at Spring Hill College, he competed in the German Bundesliga playing in the German National Championship Series for the Paderborn Untouchables.
In 2012, Ryan returned to the Gulf Coast where he married Mary (Gussie) Hall and began teaching and coaching at St. Patrick Catholic High School in Biloxi, MS. In 2013, Ryan began teaching History and coaching Baseball and Football at McGill-Toolen Catholic High School. In 2015, Coach Hall was an assistant during the Football State Championship Season as well as during the 2019 Baseball State Championship Season. Ryan and Gussie have a 2 year old; James Patrick Hall & 6 year-old twin boys; Caiden Knox Hall & Caleb Kearney Hall. Ryan is excited to return to coaching Football with our Middle School program.
